Burn Permits are only for residential yard waste generated onsite.
(e.g. tree limbs, leaves, weeds, brush and grass)
At no time shall wire insulation, tires, rubber products, plastic, automobile products, paper, cardboard, construction materials, demolition materials, garbage, trash, petroleum products, asphalt materials, paints, agricultural chemicals, household chemicals or any other material that normally emits dense smoke, noxious odors or hazardous air pollutants be burned.
Wyandotte County residents are limited to one (1) 3-day burn permit per burn period, (e.g. one burn permit in April and one burn permit between October 16th and November 15th) that allows for the combustion of one (1) 10 foot by 10 foot or smaller pile of naturally occurring organic yard waste generated onsite. Permitted open burning shall not begin prior to 7:00 A.M. and shall be completely extinguished by 6:00 P.M.
Wyandotte County Residents shall at no time conduct open burning within fifteen (15) feet of any private residence, public roadway, power line, or structure.
Wyandotte County residents shall supervise the burning until combustion is complete or the fire has been extinguished. Adequate firefighting equipment shall be maintained onsite until combustion is complete or the fire has been extinguished.
Wyandotte County residents shall not conduct burning during unfavorable meteorological conditions, such as high winds or air stagnation, as declared by the Fire Chief and/ or the Department of Air Quality, or when an OZONE ALERT! has been declared.
