In the face of an economic crisis, the magnitude of which we have not seen since the Great Depression, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act represents a strategic and significant investment in our country’s future.
The Unified Government has established a leadership team to monitor and respond to the various American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Stimulus) programs. The mission of the team is to monitor funding announcements at the federal and state government levels, ensure the Unified Government is submitting proposals for the funds and record the activities related to the stimulus programs.

The leadership team consists of three current department managers:
- Bob Roddy, Director of Public Works, is responsible for leading the weekly meetings held with UG departments and recording the activities
- Joe Connor, Director of Public Health, is responsible for responding to external requests for information and tracking any community-based stimulus activities
- Dennis Laughlin, Director of Public Safety Business Office, is responsible for research and coordinating information from all of the UG departments.
The Unified Government is already beginning to benefit from the stimulus programs. Over $16 million has been directly allocated and over $6 million has been allocated regionally that will benefit Wyandotte County.
