In Home Services

The Older Americans’ Act and Senior Care Act are the two major funding sources that provide in-home services as an alternative to nursing home care. Recipients of these programs must be 60 years of age or older.

Examples of in-home services include:

In-Home Services
  • Adult day care
  • Personal emergency response system
  • Wellness monitoring
  • Assistance with house cleaning
  • Meal preparation
  • Bathing
  • Toileting
  • Feeding
  • Respite care
  • Nurse evaluations

The Older Americans’ Act programs are federally funded and target low income residents who are at or below the federal poverty guidelines. The Senior Care Act program is a state funded program and clients are required to pay a copay for services, dependent on their income.
