Doug Bach

Douglas (Doug) G. Bach was appointed to the position of County Administrator on March 8, 2014. Before this appointment, he served in the position of Deputy County Administrator beginning March 2003.  He earned his Master Public Administration degree from Kansas State University in May 1990.

During his tenure as Deputy, Doug directed multiple major economic development projects that have brought in hundreds of millions of dollars into the area, which ultimately helped stabilize the local economy during one of the worst economic downturns in our nation’s history.  A record-breaking construction boom that’s created thousands of jobs, built strong public and private partnerships and established KCK and Wyandotte County as one of the most business friendly governments in the region.

This strong track record under Bach’s leadership is what also contributed to Google’s selection of Kansas City, Kansas being selected as the first city in the nation for the deployment of its ultra-high-speed fiber project.

Bach’s career with the City of Kansas City, KS began before consolidation in June 1990. He served as a Budget Analyst in the Department of Finance; Program Manager in the department of Community Development and again as a Budget and Fiscal Analyst. His career also includes serving (5) years as an auditor for the Kansas City, KS Police Department, (2) years as the Purchasing Director and in the position of Assistant County Administrator.

Bach also maintains a certificate in Regional and Community Planning from KSU; a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science; Major in Public Administration and Minor in Communications all from Fort Hays State University.

As County Administrator, Bach provides staff support services to the Board of Commission and its committee meetings, and coordinates the development and analysis of policy recommendations presented to the mayor and Board of Commission.

He is also a member of various boards and organizations such as the International Association of City Managers, Kansas Association of City and County Managers, International Council of Shopping Centers, Kansas City, KS Chamber of Commerce and Optimist International-Piper Club  to name a few.
