The Health Department's Family Planning clinic provides income-based services to promote, equip, and encourage healthy lifestyles and positive sexual responsibility behaviors, prevent illness, and connect clients to other community services and resources. A registered nurse, licensed social worker, and sexual health educator provide Family Planning Services.

  • Universal Home Visitor: works with mothers, pregnant women, and infants up to 12 months old. One or multiple visits in person, by phone or virtually. Provides education, initiates referrals, and assists mothers and families in accessing services and resources in the community.

Appointments

Step 1.Schedule an Appointment

To make an appointment, call (913) 573-8855If you live in Wyandotte County, you are eligible for free transportation to and from your clinic appointment.

Step 2.Walk-ins

Walk-ins for many of our clinical services, including well-woman exams and birth control, are available Fridays, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM.

Plan B and free condoms are available on a walk-in basis Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.

Eligibility

Who is eligible for Family Planning Services?

  • Anyone can access our Family Planning services, regardless of whether you are insured or uninsured.
  • You do not have to live in Wyandotte County to use services.
Birth Control

Please note: Prescription birth control is available on site for clinic patients. We cannot fill birth control prescriptions from other providers. However, anyone can pick up free condoms at our front desk.

Early Detection Works Program

Patients who qualify can receive free cervical cancer screenings and breast cancer screenings. See the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Early Detection Works page for eligibility criteria.

Fee

Family Planning Services are on a sliding fee scale based on household income.

Any related Laboratory testing, such as pregnancy testing, is provided at a flat fee. Call (913) 573-8855 for current pricing.

FAQ

How do Family Planning Services work?

  • The Family Planning Health Team assists each client in providing Family Planning resources.

  • The health team works with each client to help create an individualized health plan around reproductive health and collaborates with other safety net clinics in the community as needed.

  • All services are confidential.

  • Teen clients are given individualized counseling with a sexual health educator during the appointment. Parental consent is not needed to receive services or birth control in the Family Planning and STD clinic.
