The Wyandotte County Public Health Department's Substance Use Program within the Community Health Division focuses on increasing local resources and services related to substance use. The program includes a Peer Support program, Narcan distribution and training, and advocacy for statewide and local overdose policy.

Anyone can pick up free Naloxone (NARCAN®) and free fentanyl test strips at the front desk of the Wyandotte County Public Health Department:

On May 9, 2024, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly signed House Substitute for Senate Bill 419, a "Good Samaritan Law" that provides legal protections for people who seek or provide medical assistance for someone experiencing an overdose or other medical emergency related to substance use.
