Work at the K-32/Turner Diagonal Freeway/Kaw Drive interchange continues, weather permitting, in Kansas City, Kansas. ** 1/24/2025 Update** Beginning January 27, K-32 will be closed east of 65th Street for continued work on the Turner Diagonal Freeway. Eastbound K-32 is expected to re-open on February 2, weather depending. Please slow down and observe detour(PDF, 70KB) signs. The Kansas Department of Transportation(KDOT) multi-phase project began in October 2022 and includes the replacement of the eastbound and westbound K-32/Turner Diagonal Freeway bridges over Kaw Drive and the Union Pacific Railroad lines. The first two phases of this project are complete. Phase 3 has begun and the project is expected to be complete in 2026. Impacts to traffic are as follows:
Work will occur overnight during weekdays from 6 PM to 6 AM. Message boards are in place, alerting motorists to closures and directing traffic toward advised detours. Detours will be marked and include the following:

Miles Excavating, of Basehor, is the contractor for the $22.7 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in May 2026.
