The Unified Government (UG) is planning mobility improvements to the 6th Street and Armstrong Avenue Corridors. Improvements include traffic and pedestrian safety enhancements, and a two-way, on-street bicycle path that will be constructed in two phases.

The UG will host a public information meeting on Tuesday, September 17 at the KCK Main Branch Public Library, 625 Minnesota Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas 66101 to share details of the planned improvements for 6th Street and Armstrong Avenue. The meeting will be an open house with no formal presentation made. The public is invited to stop by anytime from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.

This project goes from 6th Street to 4th Street along Armstrong Avenue and Central Avenue to Armstrong Avenue along 6th Street.

Phase 1

This phase is funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and is planned to advertise for bid in October 2024 with construction to begin in 2025.

Phase 2
Phase 2 will include the same improvements plus a two-way, on-street bicycle path on the west side of 6th Street between Ann Avenue and Riverview/6th Street Trafficway. This phase received local and federal funding and is expected to be advertised for bid in 2026.
