Unified Government Names Michelle Wooten as Deputy Treasurer

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas (UG) is pleased to announce Michelle Wooten as Deputy Treasurer.  With over six years of experience with the Unified Government, Michelle Wooten has served as the Administrative Coordinator for Real Estate/Personal Property and Delinquent Real Estate divisions. Since December 2022, she stepped up during a period of transition across the Finance Department as acting County Treasurer.

Prior to her role in government, she spent 17 years at Bank of America as a Financial Center Manager, where she developed a deep expertise in financial management and customer service. Her experience in the banking and currently government sector has provided her with an understanding of revenue management, tax collections, and customer service.

“I am extremely excited for my role and the positive impact that I will make. I have a true passion for quality customer service and believe in the power of treating others with respect and integrity,” said Wooten. My personal motto is “Treat others like you want to be treated”. This motto guides me personally and professionally. In my role, I will be committed to ensuring both staff and taxpayers are served with integrity in every interaction.”

As Deputy Treasurer, Michelle will report directly to the County Treasurer, focusing on the management of revenue generated by the Unified Government, as well as overseeing the collection of real estate and personal property taxes, motor vehicle programs and other vital revenue processes.

Michelle holds a bachelor's degree in business management with a minor in Pre-Law from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, and an associate's degree in applied science for Paralegal from Brown Mackie Community College. She is also currently a student in the Leadership 2000 program, Class of XXXVIII.

Outside of work, Michelle enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cheering on her New Orleans Saints, traveling to her hometown of Natchitoches, Louisiana, and indulging in her hobbies of amateur gardening and training her new pups.
