DotteArts: A Survey to Understand Our Arts & Culture Landscape
Published on May 23, 2024
We’re asking for your help! To find the artists and organizations left out of mainstream circles, DotteArts, Inc. and their partner, ArtsKC, are trying to identify and map ALL of the art assets in Wyandotte County. That means knitting circles and marching bands, food pop-ups, poetry slams to welders, bands and jam sessions, venues, and collectives.
Why?
Because Wyandotte County wants to broaden access to arts knowledge, funding, and representation beyond the usual higher-profile recipients. And we want to hear from you! Developing such a resource is a foundational step in cultural planning, and we can’t do it without you, our community. This work is driven by the belief that there are valuable assets in the form of people, places, associations, and organizations, and identifying those components can help move communities forward in implementing their vision. We think of the arts and creative community broadly, from painting and sculpture to museums, culinary arts, weaving, quilting, design, and architecture, to name just a few. No event, artist, or space is too small. We want to hear from everyone!
