I-70/Park Drive Bridge Repair & Ramp Closures

Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, July 24, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) will begin bridge repairs at I-70/38th Street/Park Drive in Kansas City, Kansas, weather permitting.

The project includes installing new bridge expansion joints, repairing bridge abutments, and patching the bridge deck. While the work is underway, the following ramps will be closed:

  • Eastbound I-70 to 38th Street/Park Drive exit
  • 38th Street/Park Drive to eastbound I-70 entrance

Detour Instructions
To reach 38th Street/Park Drive from eastbound I-70, follow the marked detour:

  1. Continue east on I-70 and exit at U.S. 69 (18th Street) using the loop ramp.
  2. Immediately take the U.S. 69 (18th Street)/westbound I-70 loop ramp to re-enter westbound I-70.
  3. Continue west on I-70 and exit at 38th Street/Park Drive.

Temporary pavement markings, portable message signs, signage, and traffic cones will be used to manage traffic. Message boards are already in place to notify motorists about the project and closures. Work will occur Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 5:30 PM, weather permitting. The ramps are expected to re-open by late August.

PCiRoads, of St. Michael, Minnesota is the contractor for this $133,000 repair project.
