The Kansas Department of Transportation will close eastbound and westbound K-32/Turner Diagonal Freeway, from 65th Street to 59th Lane, at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, weather permitting. Initially, the bridge contractor will close K-32 eastbound and EB Kaw Drive this Saturday, 10-7 for the bridge demolition of Eastbound K-32 bridge over the Kaw Drive roadway, weather permitting.
This closure is necessary for demolition work required by the K-32/Turner Diagonal Freeway bridge replacement project over Kaw Drive and Union Pacific Railroad tracks. Map below shows closure location marked in red.
Message boards are being placed in the area to notify motorists of the upcoming closure. Detours will be marked. Complete closure and detour information will be provided in a forthcoming news release.
KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. To stay aware of all road construction projects across Kansas go to www.kandrive.gov or call 5-1-1. Drive safely and always wear your seat belt.
