Midtown to Legends Microtransit Zone Successfully Launched

Expanded zone coverage will provide more transportation options for Wyandotte County Residents
The Unified Government's Transportation Department is excited to announce the successful launch of the new Midtown to Legends microtransit zone. This expanded zone provides on-demand low fare curb to curb transportation from Midtown KCK to Legends area and back. This service provides connectivity for residents to fill gaps where a bus stop or other transportation service may not be as accessible. In addition, the service can connect residents to various regional zones, transferring to other counties.
The expanded service area provides on-demand low fare transportation from 47th & State to the Legends/Edwardsville (E/W) and Leavenworth Road to Metropolitan (N/S). To further provide additional transit options to the community, the UG Transportation department also added Turner High School and Merriam Transit Center as a drop-off/pickup point.
"We are immensely excited to expand mobility access throughout the Wyandotte County area," said UG Transportation Director Deasiray Bush. "By expanding our microtransit zone, we can service more residents by connecting them to employment, healthcare, educational institutions, and more. Our vision is to expand mobility access, and we’re doing just that!"
How Does Microtransit Work?
Microtransit service is an on-demand shared ride transit service that operates in a specific radius and includes fixed route access. It allows passengers to request and pay for rides through the IRIS Mobile App (for Android and iOS,) the IRIS Booking Website or through our UGT Dispatch Center at 913-573-8351.
Mid-Town to Legends Microtransit Zone Details
The zone is available Monday – Friday, 5:30am-8pm, and weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from 7am-4:30pm.
Service Hours:
Fare: $3.00 per person, per ride. Passengers are able pay within the IRIS mobile app or IRIS Booking Website, over the phone by calling the UGT dispatch center at 913-573-8351 or can pay the fare directly to the driver; exact change is required as our drivers do not provide change. Urban Outfitter employees can ride FREE with proof of their employment by presenting their work badge.

IRIS is an application driven premium service. The service utilizes an on-demand dynamic routing model, which picks up and drops off riders in locations within one-quarter mile of their request. The service gets residents within a quarter mile of their destination for a minimal fee within a defined zone. Each service zone has a designated transit transfer hub.
