July 2023 has been officially declared "Parks and Recreation Month" by the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas.
The proclamation is in coordination with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) in recognizing the more than 160,000 full-time park and recreation professionals — along with hundreds of thousands of part-time and seasonal workers and volunteers — who maintain the nation's local, state and community parks.
As part of July's festivities, the UG Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor multiple community events, highlighting this year’s theme of “Where Community Grows."
"We are excited to celebrate Parks and Recreation Month with our community and staff," said UG Parks and Recreation Director, Angel Ferrara. "Parks and Recreation services play a vital role in quality of life for our residents and brings communities together."
