A Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) bridge repair project begins Monday, March 24, on I-435 in Wyandotte County. Crews will repair and resurface multiple bridges on I-435 between the Kansas River and the Missouri River. The project includes patching and overlay work on the following bridges:
For the duration of the project, northbound I-435 traffic from K-32 to Swartz Road and southbound I-435 traffic from I-70 to Swartz Road will be reduced to two lanes. Project work will take place in phases, and traffic will be shifted to inside or outside lanes and shoulders at bridge project locations with marked detours. The following ramps will be closed temporarily as the project progresses: Phase 1:

Work will take place on weekdays during daylight hours, with some Saturdays as needed. Drivers will see message boards, lane and ramp closures, safety barriers, signs, cones, and pavement markings to guide traffic through the work zone. Comanche Construction, Inc., of Olathe, is the contractor for the $7.17 million project. Work is expected to be completed by May 2026.
