A section of State Avenue between 10th and 11th Streets is closed as part of the Sewer Separation Project CSO19 (Phase 1). The intersection of North 11th Street is also closed. This closure is needed for ongoing work to improve the sewer system in the Waterway Park and Big Eleven Lake neighborhoods.

The road closure is expected to last 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the weather. During this time, drivers are urged to slow down near work zones and follow detour signs. To view or download a detour map, click here(PDF, 208KB).

This project is part of a $6.6 million effort required by the Unified Government’s (UG) Consent Decree with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Environmental Protection Agency. The decree mandates improvements to the sewer system to reduce overflows into local waterways in compliance with the Clean Water Act. The work includes installing new storm and sanitary sewer lines to separate the systems, which will help prevent flooding and improve water quality. Improvements are funded by the wastewater user charge. To learn more about this project and the UG's Consent Decree, visit the project's webpage.
