Grandview Boulevard between 10th Street and Barnett Avenue near Northrup Park will close beginning Friday, April 4. The closure will support ongoing infrastructure work related to the 8th Street, Northrup, and Splitlog Parks Stormwater project. The closed area will serve as a staging site for construction materials and equipment, giving crews the space needed to work safely. This portion of the street will remain closed through 2025. The construction activity at Northrup Park is part of a series of projects required under the Unified Government’s Consent Decree with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Justice. These projects involve separating combined stormwater and wastewater pipes. Older systems that carry both wastewater and stormwater in the same pipes can overflow during heavy rain, releasing untreated wastewater into nearby rivers and streams. By separating these systems, the project will reduce pollution and public health risks at all three park sites. These efforts will modernize aging infrastructure, improve water quality, enhance public health, and support the Clean Water Act compliance.
