The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas (UG) is pleased to announce the hiring of Andrea Vinyard as County Treasurer.

Ms. Vinyard has been with the UG for over 10 years and has served as Deputy Treasurer and Cash Manager for 7 years and as Interim Treasurer for close to two years. Upon serving as Deputy Treasurer, she worked as an Internal Auditor in the Legislative Auditor’s Office.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, as Treasurer Ms. Vinyard will handle all revenue generated by the Unified Government, including the collection of real estate and personal property taxes for the entire County.

“I truly believe that being a good steward of the community where I live, work, and raise children will open so many opportunities for not just me, but for everyone here in Wyandotte County,” said Ms. Vinyard. “I am committed to ensuring that my staff and I will serve all our taxpayers in Wyandotte County with dignity, respect, and professionalism. As I step into my new role as County Treasurer, I am excited to continue to utilize technology, and various resources to help the taxpayers of Wyandotte County.”

Ms. Vinyard holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ottawa University and is a recent graduate of Leadership 2000, Class XXXVII.

“We are excited to promote Ms. Andrea Vinyard to the position of Treasurer for the Unified Government,” said Chief Financial Officer, Dr. Shelley Kneuvean. “She has been an invaluable member of the leadership team in her role as Deputy Treasurer over the past several years and we are confident she will be able to effectively step into this new role.  We look forward to the vision and process improvements Ms. Vinyard will bring to the tax collections, real estate, and motor vehicles divisions of the Treasury Department.”

Operating under the regulations of the Kansas Department of Revenue, Ms. Vinyard will oversee the receipt of all deposits through the collection of permits, fines, licenses, and taxes; distribution of tax levies for Wyandotte County, Kansas City, KS, Bonner Springs, Edwardsville, and four school districts; collection of current and delinquent taxes; and the motor vehicle program.

When not managing the high-performing Treasury Management, Property Tax, Delinquent Revenue, and Motor Vehicle Registration team, she enjoys watching her son grow into a great little man, working out, playing sand volleyball, and spending time out on the boat at Wyandotte County Lake with her son, Fiancé and his two daughters.

Congratulations, Andrea Vinyard!
