On Wednesday, November 15, the Unified Government co-sponsored an "Administration" career area for the 2023 Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) Career Expo, a biannual event that brought 3,100 middle and high school students from across the Metro to Bartle Hall to explore careers in the public sector.

The free, in-person event allowed area middle and high-school students to explore high-demand and rewarding career opportunities in local government. Numerous cities and counties across the bistate region co-sponsored the expo, which featured hands-on, interactive sessions on public sector jobs and information on internships, job shadow and volunteer opportunities.

With representation from Budget, Treasury, Human Resources, County Administration, and Strategic Communications, UG staff hosted a game of "Price Is Right" where students had a chance to guess how much it costs to run a government. The Wyandotte County Public Health Department was also represented at the event as part of the "Public Health" career area.

UG staff visited with many students from Wyandotte County schools including Arrowhead Middle School, Carl Bruce Middle School, Rosedale Middle School, Argentine Middle School, Central Middle School, Eisenhower Middle School, Clark Middle School, Bonner Springs High School, and Piper High School.
