Parks and Recreation Prepares to Stock Lakes

In preparation for Opening Day of Fishing in Wyandotte County, the public is invited to view the delivery of 6,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout, Thursday, February 28, at 2:00 p.m. at the marina in Wyandotte County Lake Park.
The gates at Wyandotte County Lake and Pierson Park will open Saturday, March 2, at 6:00 a.m. to kick off the fishing season. Wyandotte County Lake will be stocked with Rainbow Trout and Channel Catfish; Pierson is stocked with Channel Catfish. Additional shipments of fish will arrive in March after opening day for a total of 16,000 pounds of trout and 17,500 pounds of channel catfish.
A Unified Government fishing permit and a Kansas Fishing License is required for Kansas residents age 16 and older or 64 and younger.  All non-residents 16 and older are required to have the permit and the Kansas License. The permit and license can be purchased at the following locations: Wal-Mart on Parallel and in Bonner Springs, Cabela’s and Minnesota Bait.
Unfortunately, there is one thing that could delay opening day . . . ICE!  Please call
