Starting on September 16, two eastbound lanes of State Avenue in Downtown Kansas City, Kansas, will be closed as part of a new water main project.

Both eastbound lanes of State Avenue, between 7th and 6th Streets, will be closed for up to two weeks while crews complete the installation.

This closure also includes the eastbound portion of the 7th and State Avenue intersection. During this time, crews will install and test new water lines and restore the affected pavement.

The closure is connected to Kansas City Kansas Community College’s (KCKCC) new comprehensive facility, a 100,000-square-foot center aimed at providing educational programs, health services, financial literacy, and more to the local community.

Detour signage is in place, and motorists are reminded to slow down and give crews plenty of room to work.
